EGYPT
The name alone is enough to set us dreaming.
Life in ancient Egypt is presented here in many elaborate drawings.
The poster is rounded off with large illustrations of the Sphinx and a death mask.
The poster is designed like a round tour and begins of course with the Pharaoh-Son of Ra and personification of Osiris - and his wife.
Some of his ministers and their administrative bodies are introduced.
Religion is mentioned and a temple is shown.
On the next stage of our tour, we see some toys and musical instruments.
Pieces of jewellery and clothing are also not forgotten.
We see a potter at work and some farmers at the harvest.
The tools of the craftsmen are presented, and Egyptian medical practice is also mentioned.
The production of papyrus is also shown and even the meanings of some hieroglyphics are explained.
Military equipment, warriors, and a Pharaoh in a chariot are shown as well as some of their ships.
At the end – death: embalming, the sarcophagus, the Pharaoh’s boat to take him on his last journey. You also see some grave goods and the pyramid with its passageways.
The poster ends with an enlargement of a death mask.
There is also a map of ancient Egypt showing all the places with those mystical and auspicious names.
That’s Egypt.
