Grands Vins Rouges
It is said that a glass of red wine daily is good for the heart and prevents varicose veins.
Whatever else it may be good for we don´t need an excuse to enjoy a glass of good red wine;
just a suitable occasion.
Vintage wines from 12 growing areas of France are presented here.
A map in the middle of the poster shows the wine-growing regions, their position and their size.
The areas are marked in different colours, and the names of the regions appear above the bottles which are arranged in groups:
Bordeaux, Loire, Languedoc, Provence, Jura, Beaujolais , Rhones-Nord, Sud-Ouest, Rhones-Sud, Cote de Nuits, Bourgogne und Cote de Beaune.
We are presented with 59 bottles, to be admired by both wine connoisseur and the less discerning.
We read such famous wine and wine-producer names like:
Chateau Mouton Rothschild,
Chateau Talbot or
Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte.
Several vintage years are pesented, but mostly the years from 1983 to 1998.
These are all wines which you can keep in your cellar.
Generally they improve with keeping as long as they are properly stored.
Take a bottle of Bourgogne, vintage 1959.
It would warrant a really special occasion to justify opening this one.
